Performance
Apart from the long waiting time for voice-indexing files on an iPod, the AVIC-Z110BT performed excellently. The menu transitions were hard and there were no software crashes or hangs. On the GPS side, the first satellite location 5 minutes took in downtown San Francisco, but the subsequent satellite times were considerably shorter.
Although we were not able to use the “dead reckoning” feature because of the odd our cars do speed pulse signal, the AVIC-Z110BT did a fantastic job of holding our position as we navigate the city. However, people who spend much time in long tunnels or covered bridges likely to benefit from the increased accuracy that provides this feature.

Pioneer’s audio quality was good. We do most of our tests with a flat EQ curve, but there are four preset EQ curves and two seven-band user turns. There are also some advanced settings for crossovers, virtual staging, and subwoofer control.
While the Z110BT 22 watts RMS per channel (50 watts max) is good enough for most OEM speaker setups, will audio enthusiasts with improved speakers should use April 3-volt stereo preamp outputs make to the external reinforcement joints. An interesting feature is that the rear channels can be bridged to a maximum 70-watt subwoofer channel for people who just want a small sub to add example to make a pickup truck that rear speakers missing.
