Given the current state of the economy, not everyone has the budget to spring for a GPS device. Fortunately, revised last fall its two entry-level Garmin n is in the 200 series and the midlevel offering in the 700 series. I glanced at the Garmin nuvi 755T, to check to include some of the new features that Lane Assist, 3D buildings and photo navigation. And since Garmin story, it is not surprising that its entry-level n is how the nuvi 265T, offer a lot for your money and are an excellent choice for the budget conscious.
The 265T measures 2.8 by 3.8 by 0.8 inches (HWD) and features a 3.5-inch, 320-by-240 pixel screen. For an additional $ 50, you can opt for the nuvi 265W, a 4.3-inch WQVGA 480-has-272-pixel screen. (All other software functions the same on both models.)

The first difference you’ll notice between the 265T and 755T, is the holder. The mid-range products, all with a holder, the power of the devices. It is easy to snap these devices in and out of the bracket with one hand. The entry-level products such as the 265T have a simple clip that snaps onto the device. The 265T gets power, and transport data over a USB connection, plug into the back of the unit. The 200-series Garmin Locate missing also included a feature in the 700-series models, which remembers your last known position when the unit from the holder.
Both the 265T and 265WT have Garmin’s familiar “Where am I” and “View Map” interface. They have the same destination entry options on the entry-level products to the middle and even the premium 800 Series Address, Go Home, Points of Interest (16 classes), recently found, Favorites, Intersections, Extras, Cities, Browse Map and Coordinates: input options. to notice a difference, however, your choice of keyboards: the nuvi 265T has only an alphabetical arrangement, the 755T, is on the other hand a selection of keyboard layouts.

If you compare the features under the Tools menu, you will discover that the players send 265T for MP3s and audio books and voice lacks an FM transmitter prompts to your car radio all the features of the 755T. Still have the 265T and its siblings “Where am I”, a picture viewer, world clock, a simple calculator, and a unit converter.
At CES this year, Garmin announced ecoRoute a free upgrade is available for both the 200 series and 700 series. Once installed, ecoRoute calculate your estimated fuel costs for each trip and provide you with fuel and mileage reports, it adds even “less fuel” option to route their preference decisions. You can input your vehicle ecoRoute average adjusted city and highway mileage and the current cost of fuel. Of course, the reports are generated only as good as the mileage estimates deploy.

Moreover, a driving challenge ecoRoute feature to evaluate (and improve) your driving skills. If it is activated a small icon appears on the right side of the screen and shows your current score (from 0 to 100) and a sheet that changes color from red to yellow to green as you improve. Your score is based on acceleration, deceleration and speed: rapid starts and stops you lower your score, driving a constant speed and power starts and stops gradually improve, and when it sets the rate at which your guests. If you decide to stop the challenge of the ride, you will receive a report with your score in each category.
The 3.5-inch screen, but very small if you lived on 4.3-inch units are. The smaller screen means less icons per screen (four per screen on the 265T and six per screen on the 755T) and that the results scroll in a bit more. The navigation experience with the nuvi 265T was very good, but. I found the advertisement with the free movement finds a bit annoying, although it is fairly easy to ignore. I liked that the traffic drawn the box and requires no configuration or activation of the icon has just appeared on the map.

In my driving test, carried out as the 265T 755T, and in this case the 880 and 885T. Of course, since they all have the same Navteq maps North America (U.S. and Canada), you would not expect much in the way of routing differences. On the 265T, like the other 200-series, you give up the Lane Assist view, 3D buildings and multi-segment routing are all included in the 700 series. Lane Assist is a nice feature, you maneuver the correct lane for an approaching. For me, multi-segment routing a nice feature, but not one I use very often. For traveling salesmen, but could pay an optimized route for themselves, efficiency and fuel savings.
I liked ecoRoute, and I’m glad, Garmin has it in his entry-level products. I tried the “less fuel”, “shorter” and “Faster” Routing in the short, medium and long trips and did not find too much difference in fuel costs on my profile vehicle and fuel pricing of $ 1,71 per gallon. Below is a table with the results for each of the three trips and routing methods. I chose the fastest route to long-and medium trips and the “less fuel” route on my short trip. Of course, as the saying goes, you can vary your mileage account.

I was disappointed with the Bluetooth function on the nuvi 265T, but only because I had such a great experience with the interface with other n is. On the 265T, the interface connects correctly, but it is not designed my mobile phone address book or call list to be read. I suspect that this is one of compromise, that is an entry-level product.
Garmin nuvi 265T offers the Garmin navigation at an affordable price. While some of the bells and whistles of Garmin’s top-level products is missing, the 265T a complete set of maps, text-to-speech, free lifetime traffic, visual navigation and ecoRoute for an online price of less than $ 200 . If the additional features of the 755T is not gotta have on your list, either the 265T or the widescreen 265W a great value.
