Timex was late to the party GPS, I was always puzzled why they come so long with a GPS Clock took place. Its first GPS-Clock was a complete bomb, the GPS device is separate from the Clock and the runners had the GPS device attached to her arm.
I was excited about the Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS, which came in early June to hear. Timex has had 26 months since the Garmin 405 came out to a competitive product, perhaps to create a superior product. I was curious about the Timex Ironman GPS Global Trainer against my beloved Garmin 405 to compare. The Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS was bought with my own money.
When I took the clock out of the box, I could not believe how big it was. It looked like a normal clock, but it is larger than the Garmin 405. My first thought was, why a clock that is larger than the 405′s design, they have lost quite on the female market.
The Garmin 405 has a clean look, only two buttons, it uses a touch screen bezel, similar to an iPod. At first I took a little getting used to the bezel, it has become the quirks but for the most part I like it. The Timex Ironman GPS Global Trainer uses traditional keys and it was easy to use.

Part of comfort is the sheer size of the clock so that the Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS already a blow against them. The Garmin 405 has never bothered me, but felt uncomfortable only the Timex on my wrist. It does not apply to his wrist in the same manner that corresponds to the Garmin 405.
This is the true test and when Garmin came with the 405 was 5-7x faster to acquire the GPS signal than the 205/305. I thought that was a huge improvement if I want to get started for a run, I hate to wait a minute for my clock to the satellites found.
In general, the Garmin to acquire 405 the satellite in about 3-5 seconds. When I include the 205/305, it could be up to a minute and I would often Clock down on a flat surface and honest in the south in order to acquire the signal. With the 405, which you can turn straight, it finds the satellites.
Like the Timex Ironman GPS Global has fare coach? On average, lasted over a minute to acquire satellites, it was horrible, yes, I would suspect that the Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS Garmin 205/305 is worse than that when it comes to satellite acquisition time.

This really surprised me. You have to think that the research and development team compared their Timex Clock on the Garmin 405, so why should a product that Release 10-12-fold amount takes time to acquire the satellite signal?
The last test, and that is the accuracy of the GPS device. I went to my local high school track and ran 5,000 meters, which is 3.106 miles. I wore the Garmin Forerunner 405 and the Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS on my left wrist, and promptly ran my 5k.
The Garmin 405 has told me I had run 3.09 miles, the Timex Ironman GPS Global trainer had the race in 3.15. Garmin 405 wins again.
Conclusion
The Timex Ironman GPS Global Trainer is nonsense. The one advantage that it is about the Garmin 405, that it is waterproof. Of course it can not track your GPS location under water, so that might be irrelevant. I would rather have the Garmin 205 as the Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS, which is a inferrior product.
Timex should be ashamed for putting such a poor quality on the market. I have read that they will put some firmware updates in the next month or two, to improve the GPS acquisition time, but that should not be required when you spend $ 300 or more on a GPS-Clock and the Garmin 405 that out of the box. If your name is Flavor Flav, take the Garmin 405 and do not waste your time with the Timex Ironman GPS Global Trainer.
