The Pininfarina Cambiano Bovet watch has nothing to do with Ferrari, but it’s a dead sexy looking. However, we wanted the device a touch screen instead of the recommended a touchpad. The new El Kameleon KD-AVX77, we get our wish. The new El Kameleon has an extra large touch screen that fills the entire single-DIN faceplate. But is a bigger screen is always better?

The JVC KD-AVX77 is a clear improvement over the previous generation El Kameleon Unit (KD-AVX44). The larger screen adds nothing to the DVD-viewing experience, because it is too small for detail, but customizable interface is very cool. We especially like that the speed of the iPod / iPhone interface has grown, but the user interface is too clumsy and requires you to jump through too many screens to perform simple tasks like changing the playlist.

The extensibility and flexibility of the KD-AVX77 makes this a great receiver for system builders looking for stealthy in-car multimedia systems to be built without a large double-DIN in-dash screen. However, anyone who did not intend to use the KD-AVX77 is extensibility will probably elsewhere to find simpler, easier to use interfaces.
