08.17Magellan Maestro 4700 Navigator Review
Magellan Maestro’s line of GPS devices have always been designed so that consumers who are willing to pay more for more features on them. And that’s always applies to the new Maestro 4700. However, Magellan has even more features to the models in their budget-friendly RoadMate line – so much to ask oneself whether the Maestro 4700 is worth his slight price premium to have.
The Maestro 4700 contains an impressive list of features. You will receive a larger than normal, 4.7-inch screen, maps for the United States (all 50 states), Canada and Puerto Rico, a database of 6 million points of interest; highway lane-assist mark, text-to speech and multi-segment routing options. You also get several elements unique to Magellan, such as the AAA tour book and browse the One Touch feature, which latter is easy to find or a favorite destination with just a single tap of the screen can.
But here’s the thing: All these features are also available on the RoadMate 1470 (not the 7-inch-mentioned RoadMate 1700).
First, you are a Bluetooth phone interface on the 4700, which found the RoadMate 1470, like most models lack the budget. The interface problem on my LG VX9900 phone is connected, and the sound was on both incoming and outgoing calls very well. You demand the option to appeal to home number, redial the last number with the keypad, a contact from your address book or call list or use a nine speed dial entries that you define. You can also select a point of interest directly. Unfortunately, reading the Bluetooth interface not address messages or call history from your mobile phone (at least not by me). But I was happy that the 4700 series back on automatically to my phone when I returned to my car.

Voice of a portable GPS device can be a viable option interface one day, but not today.
Smart Sound, one simple but important feature that the unit volume, vehicle speed links, further differentiated the RoadMate Maestro 4700 from the products. In addition, let the sound options set separate levels for navigation and the telephone interface. Other extras in the Maestro 4700 includes a pedestrian mode, 3D landmarks, and a function to help find your parked car. I was disappointed, but to see that the Local 4700 The missing information function (for events, attractions, destinations, restaurants and gas, either in your current location or a city of your choice) on the RoadMate 1470.

Navigating with the Maestro 4700 is almost identical to the experience you would with the current models have RoadMate. The menu structures are virtually the same, with the exception of the additional features found on the Maestro. In my road test, I mounted both the 4700 and 1470 and did some test tracks. In many cases, the spoken instructions in unison, but on occasion a unit was about half a second before the others. I quickly turned off speech recognition, because as it is implemented is not very useful.
