RoadMate 1470 does not deviate from the tried-and-true handheld device form factor in navigation. Measuring 3.3 inches by 5.2 inches by 7 cm in width and thinness RoadMate easily makes this device one of the handheld devices in its class. Like almost all PNDs, most of visage RoadMate employs a color touch screen. Most units in this price range do because with 4.3-inch screen, and the 1470 is equipped with a massive 4.7-inch device. And we are grateful for the extra real estate when viewing the direction of the turn of the turn of our peripherals at high speeds.
The screen has a matte finish that does a good job of diffusing glare which, along with bright backlighting, supports block useful when viewing in direct sunlight.
At the upper edge of the device is the power switch. This slider is returned to the neutral position when triggered and powers the device on or off. When powering off, the user is presented with a 5-second countdown and the ability to cancel or close immediately. If neither option is chosen, then the closure will be completed. Similar countdown timer is displayed when the device is disconnected from the charger, and the length increased to 30 seconds.
Along the bottom of the device is a slot for MicroSD cards, and mini-USB port for charging and connecting to a computer. On the back of the speaker and the connection to the suction cup windshield.
1470 comes with a charger Mini-USB/12-volt save vehicle powered using a car, and windshield suction cup cradle, which attaches to 1470 with a tongue-in-groove type of connection. In the field, you can also find adhesive disk for dashboard mounting, a mini-USB cable to connect your 1470 to your computer and user manual.

Text-to-speech turn-by-turn directions to enable the Group to read the names of streets and exits out loud. Three languages are supported out of the box “(in English, French and Spanish), only one vote in each language. One of the most useful features – and one which, as far as we can tell, unique to the series RoadMate – it OneTouch menu. This is a customizable context menu, where users can store up to six quick links to commonly available search and location. For example, we were able to save a link to the CNET offices and look for our favorite fast food restaurant. In addition to six user-configurable OneTouch link in the menu also has a permanent link to the home, previous destination, local information, GPS status, and emergency services.
